September begins in Virgo and ends in Libra.

History
The name comes from the Latin septem, for "seven" - September was the seventh month of the year until 153 BCE.
In Greek civilization, September was called Boedromion.
Other names
In the Irish Calendar the month is called Meán Fómhair (literally "Middle of Autumn") and is the middle month of the Autumn season.
Holidays
In Canada and the United States, Labo(u)r Day is observed on the first Monday in September.
In Japan, Respect for the Aged Day is a national holiday celebrated on the third Monday of September. Autumnal Equinox Day is also a national holiday.
